1. Larissa Weems - Wednesday (2022)

Look, I'm obviously gonna pick Larissa first because I have made some genuine friends through the Larissa/Gwendoline fandom and that means she is my #1 baby girl/Menace Principal.

2. Moiraine Damodred - The Wheel of Time (2021)

It was hard to decide between Moiraine and Siuan, honestly, but Moiraine won out just because we get so much more screen time with her. She was the reason I came back to tumblr in the first place and I have such a lovely and supportive discord community thanks to her/the show. Her dedication to the mission about all else just gets me so 🫠

3. Aloy - Horizon Zero Dawn (2017)/Horizon Forbidden West (2022)

Aloy best girl 😍😍😍 I think the Horizon series might be my favourite games of all time. They are so much fun to play, the story is so interesting and Aloy is a great protagonist. She is strong, independent and doesn't bother trying to fit in. She does her own thing and I really respect that.

4. Xena - Xena Warrior Princess (1995)

Xena was so special to me as a little baby gay. The thirst I experienced was unbelievable but because her relationship with Gabrielle was (barely) subtext, it was safe for me to watch in a conservative rural environment.

5. Utena Tenjou - Revolutionary Girl Utena (1997)

This prince saves herself! Utena is iconic and this anime is one of the first shows that ever got me thinking about gender roles and patriarchy. Utena doesn't always get it right but she does try her best to help her friends.

6. Astarion - Baldur's Gate 3 (2023)

Look, I just love him. I would let him devour me with no regrets. I'm still in Act 1 of the game and he has absolutely seduced me with his charm.

7. Nadja of Antipaxos - What We Do In The Shadows (2019)

8. The Captain - Ghosts (2019)

I love the Captain so very much. He's from an era when he literally would have been imprisoned for being open about his sexuality so he's so repressed and uptight but we see these little glimpses that are just wonderful and he's played with such care.

9. Kassandra - Assassin's Creed Odyssey (2018)

I still can't believe there are people out there who choose to play as Alexios when Kassandra is right there! She's amazing, such a badass and I never want to play another AC game because no other protagonist will ever be as good as her (also Ubisoft is evil).

ok so basically i  didnt get asks cause my askbox was closed and i didn’t notice 💀💀 (thank u to @olliedollie1204 for letting me know!! ure the best <33) but here’s the info on the AU for the 3 ppl who liked the post instead  >:)

 AU NAME: What He Does in the Shadows (whdits)

concept: ok so basically its an almost-complete roleswap but not really? premise is that guillermo el imparable (guillermo the unstoppable, name earned because of how damn hard he bothered and bargained with thee vampiric council to be turned into a vampire, no familiarhood nor connections) is an incredibly young vampire (just over a century old! baby vamp fr). His backstory is that he was really really really into vampire books and culture so he went off to study literature in europe or smthn and he started seeing patterns/trends in vampire mythos so he went down that rabbit hole and basically just. was able to infiltrate the stronghold of the vampiric council and basically stood his ground in the chamber of judgement until he was turned into a vampire. it is said he achieved this through convincing them to put him on security detail to basically muddy the vampires’ tracks so no other really determined humans could find out about vampires and as all the council was so fucking old and none of their familiars were as knowledgeable abt the subject as he was, it just made sense to do so (also he brought like a litre of holy water with him and sprayed it on his neck too but that’s besides the point).

This meant he was super deeply embroiled in vampire culture for years and years and years, figuring out who the fuck was leaking top secret info at a price to uninspired writers, stealing one-of-a-kind artifacts from fellow aficionados that would’ve gotten them so close (super duper sorry to Shanice, he anonymously donated a vampire-protection manual to her as a consolation), and even infiltrating the Van Helsing Vampire Hunters Association at one point (how the hell anyone didn’t call him out on de la Cruz being too on the nose is beyond him but well, over and done with, he guesses). In the 1990s he briefly re-emerged and had the grandest of times with new-to-the-scene bnf (big name fang, title for actors-turned-vamps) Antonio Banderas and they were kinda an item but its not big deal hahahah anyways- after some soulsearching or something (and some mess with the council not paying their dues and him realizing that damn maybe working for these asshole sucks, actually? he shouldntve been mad at the group he was once a part of and been more special just bcz he figured out how to leave it????) he decides he wants to share the secrets of the vampire world with the one he once tried so hard to escape

So he hits up the crew that recorded that vampire-centric and solely vampire-distributed documentary a few years back (he knows the guys who starred in it from council stuff and even though he’s planning to go behind the council’s back they’re a pretty chill gang so its fine) to make a sort of unofficial sequel docuseries to be distributed in both supernatural and human circles. It is only about 2 weeks before filming that he realizes he’s not really a shining example of vampiredom; he knows all the lore front to back, has the access, and has the fangs, yes, but he’s not really living the life. So he does what any vampire worth his salt does and improvises the hell out of it.

Ok so finding a new place on craiglist and then moving in with virtual strangers is a very bad idea, yes, but the human couple had a reasonable rate and they were so into the goth aesthetic that no sunlight could filter into their huge manor (!!! very vampiric, which is great) so Guillermo counts that as an absolute win. Also, turns out the actual tenant and head of the house is a fucking energy vampire of all things??? i mean that means that the humans were aware of vampires and the like so he wouldnt have to hypnotize the shit out of them or anything which is great and he’d have a different vampire perspective in his series which is double great - the only issue is the key missing piece.

Guillermo considers himself an incredibly self-reliant person. One does not become an unstoppable force to be reckoned with who rolled up to the vampiric council crosses blazing by relying on some shmuck to hold his coat for him or whatever. However, he can’t let his weirdly misplaced egotism get in the way of the show’s quality so he has to bite the bullet; it is only one week til filming and he has to do it, for the first time in over 120 years of his undead life, he has to get a familiar.

Picking a guy up at 3 am in the basketball court two blocks away from the manor wasn’t exactly what he had in mind. Okay, so he didn’t like give up, or anything, but the resumes he got were either really bad or the applicants weren’t cool with the cameras, and it was only 4 days until filming began, and his pacing about was so incontrollable that Nadja and Laszlo (his roomies who for some reason (he says some reason but. he knows. the walls aren’t thin but even without superhearing he’d be Aware)) physically pushed him out of the house to go chill out (if he hissed at them that’s his problem ok shush), that he bat’d and ended up wherever his wings took him. Suddenly, though, he sensed something coming directly at him in bat-form, straight trajectory ready to knock him down badly. Panicking, he returned to human form,  caught the UFO, and perfectly tossed it into a hoop he didn’t even know was there until he had already jumped to throw. He guesses the instincts he picked up from the Van Helsing era carried over or maybe its just a misc. vamp power. Anyways, this only matters because the sole witness to the very obvious proof of vampires’ existence was a man wearing a 1992 USA’s olympic basketball team jersey and he was looking at him like he hung the moon. Okay that last part might’ve also mattered for different, personal reasons but that’s not the point, the point is that this guy was clearly interested in gaining guillermo’s abilities which meant he was potential familiar material which meant that guillermo had done it!! he was ready for the documentary!!

Nandor: Teach me how to do what you just did

Guillermo: What I have done cannot be taught, it can only come from... a transformation. A transformation I am willing to offer... at a price, of course

Nandor: I will do anything for you to teach me your ways, Mr...?

Guillermo: I am Guillermo el Imparable and, if all is to go according to plan, it is best you begin to call me master

Nandor: ... Yeesh, Mr Elimparable, that’s kind of a lot-

Guillermo: Oh, gosh, yea, sorry, I forgot how that sounds outside of context-

Nandor: no, no its fine its just that most people call this like.... coach? or something?

Guillermo: I’m actually not very picky about the title, just... yea whatever is best, sorry about that. Do you think you could say ‘Master’ for the cameras, though? I want an authentic experience - my buddy Celeste is helping with PR and she says that using traditional verbiage is crucial

Nandor: the cameras? I’m going to be on TV because of this?

Guillermo: Well, its mostly about me but yes! It will also document your journey up to the moment of your transformation

Nandor: ah, yes, my transformation. good, very good. here, have my telephone number, call me when you need me so I may begin training. Should we start with.... wax on and wax off?

Guillermo: wow you're such a good learner already i can’t believe you knew about my serious candle problem just by looking at me, this is going to be fantastic.

It is now the first day of filming for the hit new docuseries What He Does in the Shadows. Colin Robinson, head of the house (untraditional occupation for an energy vampire but it is important to show innovation and differing vampire structures), prepares his room for filming by leaving as many branded objects directly facing all angles of his room. Laszlo and Nadja do each other’s nails and check their dark attires for wrinkles before joining Colin in the house’s foyer - they're wide awake as their sleep schedule was already horrid and they willingly decided to upset it further to be as present in the cool show as possible, they're hoping to making some fun connections out of the experience. Guillermo is currently being helped to get a bit of makeup on and his hair perfectly curled by his new familiar (do you know how hard getting ready is without a reflection. do you), and he lets out a happy sigh at how far his project has gotten already. Nandor isn’t paying much attention to Guillermo, but he is beginning to wonder when the hell the hoops come into play with his training cause this new coach is very weird.

okay okay okaaaaay (more like okay-a o-a-kay) here we are

disclaimer: my brain has basically been feeding on wwdits exclusively for like two weeks, probably to counter-balance all the serious stuff I've been doing and thinking about for work. as a necessary condition to keep my big brain-one brain cell ratio stable. but I let it do its trick, it's a tough time for the both of us (though, like. shame one me, I could've spent all this time in a better way, probably). hence, I'll try to stay original but some ideas have definitely been inspired by things I've read here and there

as for the finale: oh boi

so OF COURSE they're all repressing their feelings over colin robinson's death (;)) and the general drama: they're not necessarily entirely unaware of them (ex. laszlo acknowledging colin's death; or when guillermo says "if they talked about their feelings the healing would begin"), but in any case there's NO WAY they're going to express them in a mature and healthy way. they're all so stupid and I love that for them honestly, more drama and homoerotic fights to perceive. good for them.

I loved LOVED LOVED the fact that they really went for the (dysfunctional) found/chosen family trope. one of my favourites. chef's kiss. immaculate choice. they're all insane and wrong for each other but in a way that makes them good for each other. nonetheless, I'm really curious about how that's going to evolve once they reunite. they're all heading (either willingly or not EHM EHM) in different directions, so on the one hand that's a great occasion for character and plot development, but another important question arises: how, and under what circumstances, will they reunite? and how is this separation going to play out in terms of character dynamics? mmmmmm (manifesting huge drama but hopefully not too hurtful. please. I'm weak)

as for the main characters: I love nadja "absolute girlboss living the dream" of antipaxos, can we marry at least temporarily while she's in europe incompetently partaking the vampiric council's activities? laszlo (as someone has already said) public enemy No 1 but I kinda get most of his points ??? though the coffin part was DEFINITELY NOT necessary imho (it made nandor my most beloved sad, so jail time for that). I KNEW colin robinson was not dead I KNEW IT and I can't wait to see what's next for him. can't wait for the laszlo-colin show either. as for those two fools I loved the evolution of their dynamic throughout the whole season, and especially the turns it has taken in the last episodes. I mean. homoerotic very double entendre fight. I hate you. I love you. something that was more of a FUCKING MARRIAGE PROPOSAL than a marriage proposal itself. let's run away together. oopsie what is this strange sensation that I'm feeling, eeesh feelings I don't like them but please stay with me forever. wow so strong. you're alive because I let you live. we're equally deadly, but we don't go all the way with killing each other because of course we love each other (works both platonically and romantically, in any case). yes I'll stay with you forever I'm yours you're mine. chef's kiss. can't wait to see what'll happen next (though I can't deny I'm a little bit worried :/ but I'm a 24/7 pessimist so just ignore me)

BUT I CAN'T FINISH THIS RAMBLING without sharing my heartbreak over nandor my poorest littlest meow meow the relentless. he's so stupid oh my god. but I get him, I too don't get feelings and when I do I reject them as much as possible because I'm Like That. "i hate my feelings" indeed. AND RIGHT WHEN HE STARTS TO PUT 1 AND 1 TOGETHER (2 and 2 would be too much to ask of this poor little sweet darling <3) and maybe he doesn't have to be so lonely and maybe he's found someone who's willing to stay with him and MAYBE he won't feel so unhappy and hopeless and MAYBE he can recover from his depression and understand his feelings a bit more etc THAT'S WHEN he gets ///abandoned//// (for what he knows). as someone's pointed out you can easily spot the frame where he's on the train on his own and his heart breaks. delicious drama but outrageous way to treat my best friend. my pal. my homeboy. my rotten soldier. my sweet-cheese. my good-time boy.

hope he doesn't do anything stupid while he's on his own (he will).

AND IN GENERAL THERE'S SO SO MUCH TO LOOK AT AND THINK ABOUT but I mean we have a whole year so like. there's time for that as well

I was tagged by @kcrabb88 to list 6 fictional characters I love! They’re not in order and also I’m endlessly indecisive so my top beloved characters change constantly because I love so many all the time but I’m going to stick to one per fandom!

1. Lan Wangji (The Untamed)

I said this wasn’t an ordered list, but Lan Wangji really came into my heart and home and literally there’s no one else that tops him for me. He’s everything to me actually. When I think about the character type I’ve been most drawn to over the years, he really takes the cake.

2. Zuko (ATLA)

I’ve loved Zuko since I first watched ATLA as a child. I know I’m not unique in saying this, but his character, his arc, and his struggles are just something that speak to me deeply. And I love him. That’s it really.

3. Yoo Jae Yi (Beyond Evil)

I think about Yoo Jae Yi all the time tbh??? She has so many lines that are just the Thesis of the show and her wardrobe is Excellent. What’s not to love?

4. Cosette (Les Mis)

What can I really say? I’ve loved Cosette since I first saw the musical and now after seeing countless adaptations and reading the brick however many times, my love for her is immense and vast. 

5. Ayda Aguefort (Fantasy High/Dimension 20)

Ayda, my beloved. I adore every single PC from Fantasy High so much, so imagine my surprise when this 7 foot autistic half-phoenix lesbian who is a librarian comes into my life and basically shoves a mirror in my face. I’ve never felt So Understood by the existence of a character and I adore her.

6. Nadja of Antipaxos (What We Do in the Shadows)

Are you kidding me? I love an unapologetically feral woman. The endless amount of JOY I get from Nadja on this show is a wonderful feeling and I Need another season Immediately.

the first character i ever fell in love with: nadja of antipaxos my beloved <3

a character that i used to love/like but now do not: i am indifferent about guillermo. i really liked him at the beginning, and i get that everyone loves him especially now, but i feel like he's predictable in a very boring way.

a ship that i used to love/like but now do not: thought nandermo was gonna be the shit but tbh the fandom ruined it for me.

my ultimate favourite character: either nadja or nandor.

prettiest character: nadja <3

my most hated character: i don't think i really hate anyone on this show? i either love them or am indifferent about them. i guess jan? but like. jan was just a one-off baddie so i don't hate hate her. i just think what she was doing was fucked up.

my otp: i don't have one, i don't think? i like nadja and laszlo, and i also think laszlo and colin robinson were great together while that lasted.

my notp: again, i don't think i have one, but any time i see people being like "THIS IS HOW NANDERMO WILL BECOME CANON" i'm like. y'all need to calm your tits. this is why i don't like this ship anymore. people need to relearn to ship without expecting the writers to make it canon as soon as they can (or at all).

favourite episode: the casino was VERY funny. also the one with the witches at the end of season 2 (i think it was just called witches but i don't remember much about season 2).

saddest death: i haven't seen the most recent episode but as soon as i saw someone confirm that my boy actually went.... i almost cried.

favourite season: season 3 is really good so far.

least favourite season: season 2 all ran together and kind of felt a little bit boring, but i do understand that second seasons are difficult to write, especially after a successful first season.

character that everyone else in the fandom loves but i hate: again, i don't think i hate anyone, but i have been increasingly indifferent about guillermo.

my 'you're a piece of trash, but you're still a fave' fave: laszlo. he's so nasty but he's also so funny, and i loved how he was with colin robinson this season. :')

my 'beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this' fave: nadja or nandor

my 'this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it' ship: it's not really wrong, morally speaking, but it is kind of a "ew this is slightly gross, given who these two are" ship. and that's laszlo and colin robinson. love my two nasty boys <3
